One day a man named Charlie was driving to a new job when all of the sudden he was pulled over by a
police officer. The officer approached the car and asked the Charlie if he knew why he was being
pulled over. With a confused look on his face, he said that he had no idea. The officer informed the him
that about a mile back he passed though a school zone that was marked 25 mph, and that he was
clocked traveling at a speed of 47 mph. Charlie attempted to tell the officer that he had no idea that he
was in the wrong because he did not see the sign. At that, the officer explained that even though he did
not mean to break the law, he was still a lawbreaker as he handed him a ticket.

When Charlie went to court, he had every intention to plead his case and expect that the judge would
allow him to escape paying the fine. As he was awaiting his turn, he noticed that an intriguing man was
taking a moment to talk to each of the other ticketed people that were in the room. One by one, this
intriguing man made his way around the room whispering something to each person he came upon.
Some of the people he met seemed to smile and hug him while fighting back what looked to be tears of
joy. Others looked at the man very strange and pulled back from his presence.

As time went on, Charlie noticed that the people filled with joy made their way in front of the Judge.
Along with them went the very intriguing man. When the Judge heard their case, he ruled to dismiss the
charges against them; they were free! Once again, the joyful people embraced the intriguing man and
thanked him immensely. As for the others who pulled away from this man, when it was their turn to
face the judge, they went alone. The intriguing man was nowhere to be found for them. At this, the
Judge turned to the lonely litigants and charged them with the full amount of the fine for their deeds.
Charlie will never forget the sounds of those people as they were escorted away from the court room.
As they were being escorted away, they were looking for that intriguing man; they could not find him.

All of the sudden, out of nowhere, the intriguing man was standing face to face with Charlie. As Charlie
felt his heart beat harder and stronger than it had ever beat in his whole life, the intriguing man said to
him, "I noticed that you were in need of forgiveness for that fine. I was there the day that you got that
fine and gathered that you didn't realize you were breaking the law. Is this true? Charlie felt the
gathering of liquids building at the bottom of his lower eyelid as he answered, "Yes, that is true."
"Let me ask you another question" the intriguing man stated. "Now that you know, can you honestly
admit that you broke the law and that you will not do it again?" Charlie swallowed the giant lump that
was now building in his throat, "Why yes I can admit that I broke the law and no, I will never do that
again." With that stated that intriguing man asked Charlie another question, "Do you think it is fair
that you are responsible to pay a fine to the Judge for what you have done?" Charlie thought for a
moment and said, "Yes, I do." The intriguing man seemed to be pleased by Charlies honestly and
asked Charlie one last question, "If I offered to pay the fine to the Judge for you, would you accept the
payment that I make on your behalf which would free you today?" Charlie smiled and hugged the
intriguing man and cried, "Yes, thank you for saving me today!"
When it was Charlie's turn to face the Judge he stood up and saw that the intriguing man was also
making his way to the Judges bench. The intriguing man came and stood along side Charlie as the
Judge spoke, "What do you have to say in your defense today?" The intriguing man put his finger over
Charlies lips and said, "Shhhh! I am here on behalf of Charlie today your honor." The Judge smiled
and said, "Would you be willing to make payment for the crimes that Charlie has commited? The
intriguing man answered, "Yes, I would." "All of them" the Judge asked? "Yes, ALL of them!"

"CASE DISMISSED" exclaimed the Judge!

Charlie embraced the intriguing man and asked Him, "What is your name?"
The intriguing man answered Charlie with a small, quiet voice, "Jesus"

All of us have commited crimes in our lives, God calls them sins. One day, when we die, we will meet
God face to face and have a time of judgement for the way we lived our lives. God is holy. He desires to
be with you for eternity, that is why He created you in the first place, but when you enter His presence
with sin in your life, He cannot allow you to stay. You have to be cleansed and set free from that sin in
order to be able to stand in the presence of a Holy God.

For every crime that is commited here on earth, in the natural, we are accountable to pay a fine for our
crimes. Retribution is due to those whom we have hurt, whether that be a law or a person; this is
common sense here on earth. Nobody expects that someone can just go around doing wrong and not
have to "pay for it". The same holds true when it comes to our God. Nobody can go around and violate
His laws without having to pay retribution to Him for breaking his laws, in turn, hurting him and
keeping us away from Him because he cannot have the sin in His holy presence.

This is where the God of the universe stopped everything He was doing and became born of woman in
order to make an acceptable payment for our penalties. Jesus, the god-man himself, carried your
penalties to the cross himself in your place so that you wouldn't have to.

He did what only a sinnless, pure, acceptable, holy sacrifice could do. Because of the measure of
standards that had to have been met in order to meet all of those requirements, you couldn't do it for
yourself, for the very first time you sinned you became inelligible to make a sacrifice that was
acceptable to God. It had to be the purest sacrifice of all time in order to be conted worthy in God's
court. That is exactly what Jesus did for you! He is the perfect and acceptable sacrifice that was made
to God that reconciles you to God in the court of law in heaven.

Charlie understood this, that is why he accepted the payment from Jesus for the penalty of his fines.
Charlie knew that this was a strict God, with strict standards that had to have been met in order to be
set free from the punishment that he was due. Charlie accepted the payment because Jesus made it
simple for him to do. All Charlie had to do was humbly admit that he was guilty, repent from ever
"knowingly" or "purposefully" doing it again, and accept that Jesus was the payment for his fine.

Today, you can be reconciled to God!
"Today is the day of salvation"
(2 Corinthians 6:2)

Here is how you are saved:

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin.
We were born under the power of sin's control.

- Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 6:23a
"...The wages of sin is death..."
Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is a result of sin. But a worse
death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that
there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. It is the place
where people who are spiritually dead will remain.

- Understand that you deserve death for your sin.

Romans 6:23b "
...But the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
"
Salvation is a free gift from God to you! You can't
earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it.

- Ask God to forgive you and save you.

Romans 5:8, "
God demonstrates His own love for us, in
that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!
"
When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin's penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all
the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only
condition is that we believe in Him and what He has done for us, understanding that we are now joined
with Him, and that He is our life. He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us!

- Give your life to God... His love poured out in Jesus on the cross is your only hope to have forgiveness
and change. His love bought you out of being a slave to sin. His love is what saves you -- not religion, or
church membership. God loves you!

Romans 10:13 "
Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!"

- Call out to God in the name of Jesus!

Romans 10:9,10 "
...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God
raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness,
and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
